Lura Wendy Marks, RN, MSN, ANP-BC, Reiki Master, Certified Holistic Bodywork Therapist

Ms. Marks is an ANCC board certified adult nurse practitioner, and co-founder of the Holistic Health Consultants of the Hudson Valley. She practices and teaches Reiki, holistic nursing, integral health and pain management. Ms. Marks is a professional nursing graduate of SUNY Morrisville (AAS) and Mount Saint Mary College (BSN, MSN). She is currently pursuing her doctorate of nursing at Sage Graduate School in Albany NY. She was certified as a Reiki Master in 1994 by the Rev. Anne Marie Seyfarth, 13th in lineage from Dr. Usui, at the Center for Enlightenment in Lowell, MA; and as a holistic bodywork therapist in 1995 by the Polarity Realization Institute in Ipswich, MA. Using a holistic-integral health, caring-healing model, based on Dr. Jean Watson’s Theory and Philosophy of Human Caring and Dr. Ken Wilber’s Integral Theory; Ms. Marks consults, practices and teaches Reiki, holistic-integral health and nursing.

 
   

Reiki I is a skill that the Registered Nurse (RN)/healthcare provider/person can learn and use to help patients enter a deep relaxation state.

Reiki is used as an adjunctive, non-pharmacological method to reduce pain, anxiety and suffering for patients (clients).

RN’s/ providers/ persons and patients (clients) will benefit from this activity as it supports holistic, human caring-healing and bio-psycho-socio-spiritual health for self and others.

The learner will:
1) Describe the origin, precepts, principles, levels and requirements of Reiki, and identify the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine’s definition of and research related to Reiki

2) Describe how the human energy system aligns with the physical body

3) Demonstrate beginner level Reiki for self and others

4) Describe the elements of a healing environment and how to work energetically with self and patients

5) Develop an understanding of holistic health nursing and its impact on self and others.
