The Meadow Studio was founded by MaryBeth Hraniotis
in 2004 to inspire and provide education for life through the art of the
dance, as a way of offering something different yet vital to the Youth today.
Private and group classes are held weekly for both children and adults.
MaryBeth has maintained a Private Practice in the Alexander Technique in
Montgomery since 1993.
Marybeth studied with principal dancers from many major
Modern Dance Companies such as Jose Limon, Anna Sokolow, Martha Graham, Doris
Humphry, Hanya Holm. Further study in the Alexander Technique through workshops
with Marjory Barstow.
One work: Emergence, created in 1985, was a solo performance
created in black box theatre which utilized space with large sculpture installation
combining dance/ sculpture/sound/light & scent.
Since the mid 80's, she has been interested in myth and metaphor
as a powerful resource in dance performance. Certification from IDII under the direction of Dr. Jeanne Bresciani deepened her understanding of using archetypes in dance teaching and performance.
Exposure with 1st generation Teachers who studied with
F.M.Alexander, like Barstow, continued. Much of her purity in teaching is inspired
by those who passed on "the thinking" of what Alexander was teaching.
